“And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”
1 Corinthians 13:13
Golden opportunity. Tickled pink. Green thumb. Red tape. Colour permeates our very language.
Bible writers also splashed colour throughout their narratives: the priestly breastplate, Joseph’s multi-coloured coat, Rahab’s scarlet cord, Lydia’s purple cloth. Before that, God coloured His world—from the cornflower blues and ruby reds of that first rainbow to the gemstone oranges, mint greens, and purples in the foundation of the New Jerusalem.
Today Jesus invites His daughters to colour their world. Not only with resources, time, and talent but also in hues of faith and hope, always remembering that “the greatest of these [colours] is love” (1 Corinthians 13:13, NKJV). Witness, then, the broad strokes with which women in these stories have coloured their spheres of influence as they fight human trafficking, adopt abused animals, slip shoes on the feet of a suffering stranger, and routinely forego Christmas dinners to feed the homeless.
And what about you? Heaven has already provided your canvas and colouring materials. So what are you waiting for? Go . . . and colour your world with His love!
